US News US stocks mixed, with DJIA up 0.2%

(Infocast News) US stocks ended mixed on Thursday, giving back their biggest gains in the day as traders struggled to bounce back from Wednesday's sharp sell-off. The DJIA rose 81.20 points or 0.2%, to 39,935.07. The S&P 500 fell 27.91 points or 0.51%, to 5,399.22. The Nasdaq Composite fell 160.69 points or 0.93%, to 17,181.72. Share performance was mixed in major European markets. The FTSE 100 rose 32.66 points or 0.4%, to 8,186.35. The German DAX fell 88.74 points or 0.48%, to 18,298.72. The French CAC 40 fell 86.71 points or 1.15%, to 7,427.02. (WL)
