US News US stocks close higher, with DJIA gaining 1.85%

The S&P 500 rose 35.98 points or 0.64%, to 5,667.20. The Nasdaq Composite rose 36.77 points or 0.2%, to 18,509.34. Stocks fell in the three major European markets. The FTSE 100 fell 18.06 points or 0.22%, to 8,164.90. The German DAX fell 72.86 points or 0.39%, to 18,518.03. The French CAC 40 fell 52.68 points or 0.69%, to 7,580.03. (WL)
