US News US stocks close higher, with DJIA up 1.09%

(Infocast News) US stocks rose on Wednesday as traders waited for upcoming inflation data and took in Powell's testimony before Congress. The DJIA rose 429.39 points or 1.09%, to 39,721.36. The S&P 500 rose 56.93 points or 1.02%, to 5,633.91. The Nasdaq Composite rose 218.16 points or 1.18%, to 18,647.45. Stocks rose in the three major European markets. The FTSE 100 rose 53.70 points or 0.66%, to 8,193.51. The German DAX rose 171.03 points or 0.94%, to 18,407.22. The French CAC 40 rose 64.89 points or 0.86%, to 7,573.55. (WL)
