The Hong Kong stock market rebounded today along with global markets. The Hang Seng Index opened 162 points higher and initially rose 210 points to 16,908 before falling back. It once dropped 17 points to a low of 16,680 but ended the morning session up 77 points or 0.5% at 16,775. The China Enterprises Index rose 21 points or 0.4% to 5,898, and the Hang Seng Tech Index increased by 29 points or 0.9% to 3,369. The total market turnover for the morning session was HKD 48.945 billion. Tencent (700) continued to fall by 1% to HKD 353, while Alibaba (9988) rebounded by 2.6% to HKD 76.1. Meanwhile, Wharf Real Estate (1997) saw its stock price drop by 2.9% ahead of its earnings announcement.
