China's annual GDP growth rate meets policy targets. The Hong Kong stock market rose in the morning session. The Hang Seng Index opened 23 points lower, initially dropped 99 points to a low of 19,423, then turned upward, rising 117 points to a high of 19,640. It closed the morning session up 34 points or 0.2%, at 19,556 points. The China Enterprises Index fell 7 points or 0.1%, to 7,091 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose 55 points or 1.3%, to 4,473 points. The total turnover of the market in the morning session was HKD 67.454 billion. SMIC (981) hit a four-and-a-half-year high, rose 10.6% to HKD 39.8.
