U.S. semiconductor stocks fell back, and the Nasdaq closed lower. The Hang Seng Index opened 60 points higher at 18,088 points and rose 45 points or 0.2% throughout the day to 18,073 points; the HSCEI Index rose 23 points or 0.4% to 6,464 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 22 points or 0.6% to 3,655 points. The total daily turnover of the market was HK$93.7 billion. Chinese chip stocks also fell, with Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (981) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (1347) fell 4.3% and 6.2% respectively. Domestic consumption stocks performed well, with Mengniu (2319) rose 4.5%; Want Want China (151) announced its FY25 results, net profit growth at 18.4% year-on-year, and its share price rose 5.5%.
