Half Day Roundup

The Hang Seng Index opened 26 points higher at 17,962 points, then fell 33 points or 0.2% in half a day to 17,903 points; the HSCEI Index fell 6 points or 0.2% to 6,367 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 6 points or 0.1% to 3,703 points. The total half-day turnover of the market was HK$49.5 billion. Chinese chip stocks performed well, with Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (981) rose 3.8% to HK$18.76. Hua Hong Semiconductor (1347) rose 4% to HK$24.45. Mobile phone equipment stocks also performed well, with Sunny Optical (2382) rose 4.6% to HK$52.05.
