Half Day Roundup
A-share markets resumed after the Lunar New Year holiday. The Hang Seng Index opened slightly lower by 6 points, opening at 16,334 points. The half-day decline extended to 164 points, to 16,180 points. The H-Share Index fell 66 points, or 1.2%, to 5,493 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 91 points, or 2.7%, to 3,252 points. The half-day market turnover was HK$50 billion. Energy-related stocks performed better today, with Shenhua (1088) rose over 4% and China Coal Energy (1898) rose nearly 6%. The worst-performing sectors were the consumer category and China real estate sector, with Li Ning (2331) fell nearly 9% and Longfor (960) fell 6.6%.
