The Hang Seng Index opened 131 points higher at 20,730 points, with gains once expanding to 291 points. However, it turned to a loss of 6 points or 0.03% by midday, closing at 20,593 points. The China Enterprises Index fell by 5 points or 0.07% to 7,385 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index rose by 39 points or 0.8% to 4,613 points. The total market turnover for the half-day was HKD 90.7 billion. With the Middle East crisis easing and oil prices were under-pressure, Sinopec (386), PetroChina (857), and CNOOC (883) dropped by 3.3%, 2.8%, and 2% respectively. HSBC (0005) shares rose by 1.1% ahead of its earnings announcement.
