The Hang Seng Index opened 98 points lower, with mixed performance. The market closed rose 623 points or 2.8% to 22,737 points; the HSCEI Index rose 242 points or 3.0% to 8,156 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index rose 248 points. or 5%, quoted at 5,227 points. The total daily turnover of the market was HK$261.5 billion. Chip stocks fell behind, with SMIC (981) and Huahong (1347) both rose 29%. As for insurance stocks, China Taiping (966) and People's Insurance Company of China (1339) both rose more than 9%.
