U.S. stocks performed well. Hong Kong stocks opened slightly higher by 8 points, opening at 17,205 points. They rose 37 points, or 0.2%, to 17,234 points throughout the day. The HSCEI Index rose 23 points, or 0.4%, to 6,026 points. The Hang Seng Technology Index rose 14 points, or 0.4%, quoted at 3,450 points. The total daily turnover of the market was HK$107.4 billion. A new round of stocks entered and removed from the Southbound Trading List, including Alibaba (9988), which rose 4.2% after being included, while Shimao Group (813) and CIFI (884) were removed, with their stock prices fell 22.5% and 14.6% respectively. In addition, the United States passed the biosafety bill, and WuXi AppTec (2359) and WuXi Biologics (2269) fell 10.4% and 3.9% respectively.
