The HSI opened 51 points higher and then extended its gains, rising 131 points or 0.7% for the day to close at 20,197; the HSCEI Index rose 70 points or 1% to close at 7,382; and the HSTECH rose 29 points or 0.6% to 4,687. The total market turnover for the day was HK$147.33bn. DeepSeek, a China artificial intelligence model, ranked first in the download list of Apple's free app stores in China and the U.S. Related AI concept stocks rose, with Baidu (9888) and GDS (9698) rising 3.9% and 8.9% respectively. There were rumors that the Chinese government was considering relaxing or canceling the car purchase restriction policy. Li Auto (2015) and NIO (9866) rose 2.6% and 3.3% respectively.
