Yesterday, the US stock index closed lower. The Hang Seng Index opened 229 points higher at 20,123 points. The index once rose up to 392 points and then softened. It rose 17 points or 0.1% in half a day to 19,912 point. The China Enterprises Index fell 4 points or 0.1% to 6,698 point; the Hang Seng Technology Index rose 15 points or 0.4% to 3,917 point. The half-day market turnover was HK$45.8 bn. Gambling stocks performed well, with Galaxy Entertainment (27) up 2.2%, Sands China (1928) up 1.6% and Melco (200) up 3.8%. HSBC (5) rose 0.9% to HK$56.65 before the earning result release.
