US stocks closed higher last night, and Hong Kong stocks opened 27 points higher at 16,373 points. After rising as much as 118 points in the first half of the market, the Hang Seng Index narrowed to a half-day gain of 33 points, or 0.2%, to 16,379 points. The H-Share Index fell 2 points, or 0%, to 5,613 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index rose 9 points, or 0.2%, to 3,729 points. The total half-day turnover of the market was HK$41.1 billion. In terms of blue-chip stocks, Sunny Optical (2382) was the best performer, with its share price rising 3.67% to HK$69.25. On the other hand, Chow Tai Fook (1929) fell 4.5% to HK$10.8.
