Market is waiting to see the September US CPI figures released tonight while Hong Kong stock market fell today. The HSI opened 182 points lower and then expanded its losses, falling 241 points or 1.4% at mid-day to 16,992: the HSCEI fell 87 points or 1.5% to 5,938; the HSTECH fell 24 points or 0.7% to 3,425. The mid-day market turnover was HK$57.18bn. The Chinese SOE oil stocks fell due to the drag of oil prices, with the stock prices of Sinopec (0386), CNOOC (0883) and PetroChina (0857) falling by an average of nearly 4%. Sporting goods distributor Topsports (6110) issued a profit warning, and its stock price rose 16.2% at mid-day.
