US stock market did well yesterday, and Hong Kong market continue to rise today. The HSI opened 96 points higher, then expanded to 155 points before falling back, rising 16 points or 0.1% today to close at 17,763; the HSCEI fell 9 points or 0.2% to close at 6,273; the HSTECH fell 12 points or 0.3 %, closing at 3,700. The total daily turnover of the market was HK$130.86bn. HSBC (0005)'s first-quarter result was in line with consensus, and buyback increased to US$3bn. The stock price rose 2.2% today. Bank of China Hong Kong (2388)’s first-quarter PPOP rose 22%, and its stock price rose 1.5%. BYD (1211)'s first-quarter net profit increased 11%, and its stock price fell 0.4%.
