China's annual GDP growth rate meets policy targets. The Hong Kong stock market rose in the morning session. The Hang Seng Index opened 23 points lower, initially dropped 99 points to a low of 19,423, then turned upwards, rising 117 points to a high of 19,640 points. It closed up 61 points or 0.3% at 19,584 points. The China Enterprises Index rose 10 points or 0.14% to 7,109 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose 62 points or 1.4% to 4,479 points. The total market turnover for the day was 122.2 billion HKD. SMIC (981) hit a four-and-a-half-year high, rising 9.6% to 39.4 HKD.
