The Hang Seng Index opened 157 points lower at 20,721 points, but by midday, it had risen by 255 points or 1.2% to 20,823 points. The China Enterprises Index increased by 111 points or 1.5% to 7,478 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index rose by 90 points or 2% to 4,622 points. The total market turnover for the first half of the day was HKD 83.19 billion. Yum China (9987) announced its third-quarter results, with earnings per share growing by 33% and an increase in share buybacks, leading to a 7.1% rise in its stock price. In the consumer sector, Nongfu Spring (9633) and Li Ning (2331) saw their stock prices rise by 8.6% and 5.7%, respectively.
